My goal is to make every lesson engaging, enjoyable, and tailored to your needs. I carefully design each class to create a positive and effective learning environment, so you can feel motivated and supported throughout your journey.
I have successfully prepared students for Cambridge exams, TOEIC, TOEFL, Trinity, and more—always focusing on building confidence as well as language skills.

Greetings!
My name is Dawna, and I am a CELTA-certified teacher with extensive experience. My teaching method is Communicative, which means you learn English by using it in real-life situations. When learners communicate real meaning, they naturally develop the strategies to understand and use the language confidently.
In my lessons, students speak at least 80% of the time. I create interactive, student-centred activities that keep learning fun and effective. Here are some examples:
️ Speaking & Fluency
Role-plays (ordering in a café, job interviews, making travel plans)
Information-gap activities (students must ask each other for missing details)
Problem-solving tasks (working in pairs/groups to find solutions)
Debates and discussions (fun, level-appropriate topics)
Storytelling with picture prompts
Listening & Video
Short video clips with follow-up discussions
“Guess the sound” or audio clue games
Listening for gist/detail with interactive tasks
Song-based activities (for vocabulary, pronunciation, and comprehension)
Reading & Vocabulary
Jigsaw reading (each student has part of a text and must share info)
Matching words with pictures or real objects (great for beginners)
Reading short stories/articles and predicting endings
Vocabulary games (Taboo, word races, or “Find someone who…”)
️ Writing Practice
Guided writing (emails, dialogues, postcards)
Collaborative writing games (story building one sentence at a time)
Writing prompts with creative storytelling
Correct-the-error challenges (fun peer editing tasks)
Fun & Interactive Activities
Board games and card games adapted for language learning
“Two truths and a lie” for speaking practice
Scavenger hunts (online or in-class, with clues in English)
Kahoot/Quiz-style competitions
Drawing + describing (one student describes, the other draws)
